Permineralized Wood with Quartz

Fossilized wood preserved through mineral replacement and silicification, frequently exhibiting quartz crystallization along exposed surfaces.

Collected from historic coal deposits in eastern Germany.

Specimens range in age from approximately 35 to 200 million years and retain varying degrees of preserved cellular structure within a mineralized matrix.

Composition: Silicified organic material with Quartz (SiO₂)
